Q&A

Q: What is your favorite part of your job?

A: My favorite part of my job is genuinely the work itself. I feel lucky that I get to tell stories, make art, and collaborate with such talented people every day. No two projects are the same, and getting to stretch my creative muscles alongside this team keeps things exciting.

Q: How do you approach writing about Metonic properties?

A: Because of my journalism education, I tend to dig in and ask “why” a lot. Why this property? Why this site? Why is this deal different from the last one? There’s always a story behind the financials, and I like helping to tell it.

Q: Does it feel weird to answer the questions you wrote?

A: Yes, it definitely feels a little strange. I’m usually more comfortable behind the metaphorical camera, highlighting our team’s expertise and accomplishments. But over the years, talking with vendors, public officials, and the press has made me much more comfortable stepping into the spotlight, so writing about myself in a blog post doesn’t seem too odd now.

Q: What is something you’re passionate about outside of work?

A: I’ve been playing roller derby on and off since middle school. I love the game and my fantastic team, Omaha Roller Derby. It’s so fun getting to put on my derby persona and be “Jinx” – skating around the track and enjoying some friendly violence!

This or That?

Coffee or Tea?

I prefer the taste of coffee, but since caffeine makes me jittery, I mostly drink green or herbal tea. My favorite teas are lemon ginger, chamomile, and watermelon.

Pancakes or Waffles?

Waffles all the way! There is just something so fun about making waffles and then piling them high with toppings.
