Meet Tom
Meet Metonic’s Assistant Controller, Tom Lassek. Tom supports Metonic’s day-to-day operations and growing portfolio. He works closely with the Controller on treasury, payroll, tax, and benefits, while also supporting investor reporting, data management, and coordination with external CPAs.
Beyond core accounting responsibilities, Tom partners with the Finance team to design and implement efficient, scalable processes that support Metonic’s continued growth and long-term objectives.
An experienced accountant, Tom earned a BA in Business Administration and a Master’s in Accounting from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Prior to joining Metonic, Tom worked at a large CPA firm as an auditor and tax accountant.
Q&A
Q: What is your favorite part of your job?
A: I get to see the full picture of the company, and I get to be involved in conversations about Metonic’s future. I also get to work with amazing people every day!
Q: How is your work at Metonic similar to your previous positions? How is it different?
A: My work is similar in the fact that I’m making sure the accounting and financial statements at Metonic are done correctly and that the applicable accounting standards are being followed.
In many ways my work differs now compared to my previous positions, but one of the biggest differences is that now I am doing the accounting from the ground-up, so to speak, instead of reviewing the accounting that has already been done. Plus, I am now focused solely on Metonic’s and our investment’s performance, versus before I was working with multiple clients across many different industries to ensure accounting and tax accuracy.
Q: What is something you’re passionate about outside of work?
A: I am a big music fan! I can talk about music or artists from almost any genre and I’m always looking for new music to listen to.
