Q&A

Q: What is your favorite part of your job?

A: I enjoy the variety of things I get to do and be a part of. One moment, I’m making a basic accounting entry, and the next I’m having a strategic conversation with leadership. Two days are rarely alike.

Q: How do you approach leading the finance team?

A: Leading our finance/accounting team is really easy. I consider everyone a partner in what we do. I ensure each team member knows what I do so we can communicate a similar message, regardless of who is answering. We get to tell the financial “story” of Metonic. It’s not just about the numbers; it’s how we move through the journey, helping influence the direction, and ensuring we have the financial position to achieve the goals of the department & the company.

Q: What is something you’re passionate about outside of work?

A: Over the 30+ years in two different careers, I have finally come to learn there is life outside of work. Predominantly, regardless of what “thing” I’m doing outside of work, it almost always revolves around family. I enjoy trying different activities, traveling, and restaurants, but I always want to share them with my wife, kids, and/or dad.

This or That?

Dogs or Cats?

Definitely dogs. We’ve had multiple border collies as a part of our family. People say to never have a favorite child, but my kids always told me they knew the dog was the “first born”.

Call or Text?

I absolutely prefer phone calls.  I would much rather have a live conversation with someone than just get a message.  You get to know people better and can get to what they really need during a short conversation, hearing the inflection of their voice or hesitation, rather than going back and forth with just words.
