This month’s “Meet Metonic (& APOGEE)” spotlight is Trey Smith, Senior Strategic Analyst. In his role, Trey is responsible for leading various special projects, including analyzing financial results, preparing analyses, and creating formal recommendations that convey the strategic direction of assets in the portfolio.
Q: What was your position prior to joining Metonic?
A: Prior to joining Metonic, I worked as a commercial lender for a couple years at a regional bank in Omaha. Through college internships, I was lucky to gain exposure to several areas of finance including wealth management, sell-side M&A advisory, and buy-side equity research analysis.
Q: What is your favorite thing about your role at Metonic?
A: Coming from the commercial banking world, I primarily financed operating companies and owner-occupied real estate rather than investment properties. It’s been awesome to learn the investor side of commercial & multifamily real estate from some of the smartest people I’ve met. The Metonic team is both driven and collaborative, which makes me look forward to coming to work and taking on new challenges every day.
Q: What is something that you’re passionate about outside of work?
A: Spending time with my family & dog, coaching Muay Thai, and attempting to play golf.
